Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Oregon County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other message may be retained long enough to answer it and maintain the related exchange. We keep such correspondence within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may receive routine technical details about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring site, when one is provided
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show, in aggregate, which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers help compile that information. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner service
- Finding and correcting technical problems
- Maintaining site speed, availability, and operation
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect likely interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Oregon County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general routing information for the Oregon County Sheriff, Circuit Court, Missouri State Highway Patrol Central Repository, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. A query submitted to one of those tools is governed by that company's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Those rules are beyond our control. Review the provider's policy before entering a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Oregon County Sheriff, Missouri courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read that policy before sharing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select ads. Such tracking occurs through their systems and policies.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks that place ads on the site
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made through the contact channel.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ with a visitor's location and the law that applies. Missouri's Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, governs public-body records, while RSMo §43.507 governs dissemination from the state's criminal-history repository. Those public-record laws do not turn this private site into an official custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about them
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law permits it
- Object to certain forms of processing where a right applies
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A new version becomes available here with its revised effective date.
